"Are you going to betray your God by your vote?"
This is what Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas has to say in his latest video.
The eight-minute video posted on Facebook was a compilation of clips of President Rodrigo Duterte lashing out against the Church and its officials.
Villegas was shown reading Bible verses in between snippets of Duterte's tirades against the Church.
"The Lord said, are you betraying the son of man with a kiss? My dear brothers and sisters, are you going to betray God? Are you going to deny your faith by your vote?" Villegas said in the video.
'THOU SHALL NOT JUDGE'
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo reacted to Villegas' videos with his own set of verses from the Bible.
"Thou shall not judge so that you shall not be judged. Those without sin, cast the first stone. That’s my response to Bishop Villegas," he said.
Duterte has previously renewed his attacks against Catholic priests during a visit to the southern cities of Zamboanga and Isabela, Basilan.

At a campaign rally of administration-backed bets in Zamboanga City, Duterte alleged that priests joined a plot to oust him, some 2 months into his presidency.
He also told members of the clergy to refrain from using the pulpit to berate him.
At another campaign event in Isabela, the President dredged up his old accusation that affairs with married women led to the killing of priest Mark Anthony Ventura.
Netizens React
Villegas' video earned the ire of many netizens especially because the church official has remained mum on the issue of child sexual abuses committed by the clergy, an organization he basically leads.

This hypocrite just spoke for God. Soc Villegas just pretended to know what God wanted.
You dimwit, you just broke so many rules.
- Pretending to know what God wants and speaking for Him.
- Removing the freedom of choice, free will, that God gifted for every human.
- Denying that everything that happens--including who gets the Presidency--is planned by God.
You dictatorial piece of shit. Who knows better, you? You, whose bishops beg for nice cars from politicians; you, who cannot police his pedophile priests, who has secret rules for married priests, who crave power so much, who deny women their right to own their bodies, who condemn the LGBT for living their honest lives and yet whose church is full of LGBT priests?
You, who teach people to judge, hate, and speak for God?
Try to excommunicate me, you useless, corrupt, soulless, interloper of the Church.
If anything, you are the Judas in the flock . You are the furthest thing from Jesus. You will never be Jesus, and you will never be godly, you pretentious, power hungry fool.
Villegas should stop meddling with politics and stop cleaning his house's filthy occupants. For sure, that's what God wants him to prioritize.
