Hu u? Robredo’s camp snubs Palace's offering Drug Czar post

Vice President Leni Robredo seems to have ignored Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo’s invitation via text for her to become the drug czar.

Panelo showed to reporters Wednesday (October 30) the text he sent to Robredo after she denied receiving a message from him.

He earlier said he texted Robredo about President Rodrigo Duterte’s offer for her to lead the administration’s anti-drug campaign after the Chief Executive’s speech Monday (October 28).

Panelo’s text message read in a mix of English, Filipino and Bicol: “May offer tabi si imo si PRRD na mag Drug Czar ka for 6 months. Will you accept?”

Robredo didn’t respond to the text.

The Vice President’s spokesperson, Barry Gutierrez, didn’t deny outright that Panelo texted her. Instead, he said Malacañang should’ve formally offered her the post of drug czar.

“Kung seryoso talaga sila, hindi idadaan sa text o tawag ni Sec Panelo. Ginugulo lang nila si VP habang gumagawa ng seryosong trabaho kaysa pumatol sa mga ganitong ka-showbiz. Sana hindi ito sukat kung gano sila kaseryoso sa pag-ayos ng drug war,” he tweeted.

Duterte challenged Robredo to lead the government’s anti-drug campaign for six months after she called the administration’s strategy a “failure.”
