Due to rising tensions over the historic destruction of structures inside the Maximum Security Compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), authorities have not reacted and the area has been redirected to Red Alert. They have started the use of tanks and snipers to ensure the safety of Bilibid Prison.
The SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) assault teams are also in position in quadrant 2 of the Maximum Security Compound.
“Doon po sa quadrant (2) na iyon, doon po nakahimpil ang karamihan sa mga PDL (Person Deprived of Liberty) na galing sa quadrant 1… Mataas ang tensyon kaya minabuti ng AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) at ng Special Action Force (SAF) na ihanda ang kanilang mga tangke… Kami ay naka-red alert ngayon. Mahigit 18,000 ang PDL na apektado ng demolisyon kaya hindi kami pwedeng magbaba ng aming guard,”
[Translation: “In that quadrant (2), most PDLs (Person Deprived of Liberty) from quadrant 1 were able to stand here… Tensions were so high that the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and the Special Action Force (SAF) are to prepare their tanks… We are now red alerted. More than 18,000 of the PDLs were affected by the demolition so we could not bring down our guard, ”said Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Spokesperson Major Alberto Tapiru.]
Recently during the demolition inside Bilibi there was an explosion in quadrant 4. In quadrant 4 the notorious captives such as members of the Abu Sayaff and Maute Group were detained. Authorities are still investigating whether the explosion was intentional or an accident.
BuCor Chief Gerald Bantag recalled leading the destruction of cells and illegal structures in Batangas to keep the prisoners in check and to avoid unwanted activities within the cells.
“Wala ng V.I.P na nagtatago sa jacuzzi di ba? Para lahat pantay-pantay. Walang mayaman, walang mahirap. Basta ikaw ay PDL, PDL ka. Hindi porke’t P*** may pera ka ay bibilhin mo ang mga tao di ba? Ang mga kubol kasi hindi pwedeng pumasok yan dahil illegal structure… Eh ‘yung mga mayayaman kasi dahil may pera, eh di nagpatayo (ng kubol),” sabi ni Bantag.
[Translation: “There's no V.I.P hiding in the jacuzzi right? For all to be equal. No rich, no poor. Just as you are PDL, you are PDL. It's not worth P *** you have money you are going to buy people right? The booths because they could not enter because of illegal structure ...
