4 carnappers killed in Bulacan shootout


Four suspected members of a carnapping syndicate were killed in a hot-pursuit operation along NIA Road in Barangay Bagong Silang in Plaridel, Bulacan on Sunday morning.

Plaridel Police Chief Lt. Col. Victorino Valdez, in a report to Bulacan Police Provincial Director Col. Chito Bersaluna, said the bloody encounter took place at 3:50 a.m.

Valdez added that the victim, who identified himself as “Abel,” went to the Plaridel police station and reported that his Toyota Vios (AHA 2068) was forcibly taken by two suspects.


The victim said the carnapping happened when he was approaching his car in front of a convenience store in Barangay Banga Dos.

He said the two suspects pointed a gun at him, forcibly took the car key.

Authorities immediately alerted the Plaridel police officers on duty and the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence people of the incident..


Bersaluna said the suspects evaded the checkpoint on Bypass Road, prompting the police to set up a blocking operation.

The four suspects opened fire, forcing the lawmen to shoot them.

Recovered from the crime scene were two caliber .38 guns, a .45 caliber rifle and an Uzi submachine gun.

“A bullet hit one of the policemen but luckily it landed on his vest,” Bersaluna said.
