An 11-year-old Filipina skater has raised the Philippine flag after claiming five medals, mostly gold, in a skating event in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Filipina skater Katrina Amber Cruz won four gold medals and a silver at the Skate Indonesia Leg of the Ice Skating Institute Asia (ISIAsia) Championship Series 2019, where she represented the SM International Mall of Asia, a report said.
The 6th grade student at the Holy Family School in Quezon City was victorious in five events namely: Technical, Footwork, Solo Compulsory, Rhytmic Ball, and Surprise, where she bagged her lone silver medal.
It was revealed that the young skater had only two months to prepare for the competition but the short preparation did not prevent her from capping her stint in the tournament with gold medals.

The young Filipina pride, who trained under coaches Henry Dumaliang, Dave Alarcon, and Randy Anonuevo, went up against some 400 skaters from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines at the 4th leg of the ISIAsia Championship Series held from October 24 to 27, 2019.
“Inspired by her cousin Bianca, who is also a fellow ice skater, Amber started taking up figure skating under the guidance of Randy Anonuevo in December last year,” a Facebook page dedicated for Filipino athletes said.

Cruz also bagged one gold, three silver, and one bronze medals at the Skate Bangkok last August. She is also set to compete in the Skate Japan 2020 where she hopes to earn more medals and ISIAsia Championship Series points.
