An advocate of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill on Tuesday said the gender of a child should not be assigned at birth.
"In our case as trans people, as a transwoman I was assigned male at birth. It was incorrect, it was just a guess and it was a wrong guess. Sex assignment is predictive, it is not final," Lagablab LGBT Network's Naomi Fontanos said during a Senate committee hearing on the measure.
Fontanos said that in some countries, parents have the option to put an "X" or a "double dash" on the child's sex information.
James Montilla Doble of UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies explained that sexual orientation refers to a person's emotional, affectionate and sexual attraction to different genders.
Gender identity is how a person perceives themselves internally, gender expression as how they present themselves, while sex characteristics refer to chromosomes, genitals, hormones and reproductive organs.
This are some reactions and opinions of some of our countrymen to the idea that SOGIE Advocate putting forth.
“Give them a hand, and they’ll take your whole arm. These advocates are so self-entitled,” sabi ni S. Law.
“Yeah, right! Everyone as in everybody should adjust for your so called right (or rather privelege) then. Special treatment is what you few (not all of you in LGBT, right?) are asking for. Just downright too much. Feeling and believing somewhat too entitled! Shame! Respect begets respect,” sabi ni J. Jereos.
“Gender i believe is to identify a male from a female… internal feelings or however the Advocates call it come later in life. And I agree, let them be… but… pls do not mess up with the order that’s been here for generations… pls do not change things that do not actually hurt you just to conform your beliefs… the gender identifies the sexual organ if I may say so… it does not discriminate… or has been the intention to discriminate. Human beings evolved using tools and means to achieve order in the world… let us not rock it,” sabi ni D. Pacheco.

ReplyDeletethis is the right of the mother who gave birth, to identify their child with their natural born sexual organ MALE OR FEMALE. you cannot dictate everyone else what they should identify their child to be, if you want to put an x or // on your child's birth certificate go ahead, that is your choice. by pushing this bill, you are manipulating everyone else freedom of choice. the very freedom you are "advocating" you are taking away from the parents. When the child grows up, that is when they can choose who they want to be and it is not yours to manipulate but right now, under the care of their mother, they are based on the gender they are born with.

DeleteParang umaabuso na ang LGBT sa lahat ng gusto nilang ipatupad. Ano kaya ang takbo ng isipan nila bakit nila naisip ang ganyan.Sa mga pinaggagawa nila sila mismo ang bumababa sa pagkatao at komunidad nila. Wala na sa lugar lahat nalang ng maisip nila isusulong nila kahit di pwede sa bansa at kultura ng mga Pilipino. Kapag di sinang ayunan ayon magagalit at maraming salita porket ganito kami o porket ganyan o diskriminasyon na namn sa kagustuhan nila. Sana nmn sa lahat ng LGBT unawain at pag isipan lahat ng hakbang na gagawin at gustong ipatupad.. We respect everyone's gender preferences pero wag nmn sa point na nakakawala na ng pagtingin sa pagkatao niyo..
