At least three suspects died during the hot-pursuit operation conducted by the police following a robbery that happened in a mall in Mandaue City in Cebu.

The suspects were already arrested when they tried to grapple the firearms from the police to evade and fought back resulting to their deaths in Bogo city, Northern Cebu. The suspects were said to have left the island via a Ro-Ro vessel from Pulambato Wharf in Bogo to Masbate.

Bogo city Police Chief Emelie Santos said that there are seven suspects detained at their station, as of press time.

The suspects were among the 15 armed men who barged in JCentre Mall and robbed two jewelry stores, a money changer and a pawnshop past 7:00 p.m of October 19.

The suspects who covered their faces entered at the back entrance of the mall and proceeded to the jewelry stores and hammered the glasses taking all the jewelries and cash and ransacked the pawnshop other establishment hurting one security guard.

Then the robbers went off the mall and rode on a motorcycle waiting for them outside the establishment.

The suspects are believed to be members of a robbery group outside Cebu. No mall goer was hurt during the incident.

Cebu Flash Report posted a video of the said robbery at the mall in Mandaue. It shows various people storming in and taking certain items on that mall.

Upon approaching the police station, for of the captured grabbed the arms of the police but were immediately killed.

The guards who are on duty during the incident are now considered as “persons of interest” or POI.

According to SunStar, Police Colonel Ildebrande Usana of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) said that the gurds are included in their investigation since they want to know how the guards failed to spot firearms brought by the robbers inside the mall in the first place.

Usana further said that they already identified the robbers who were at large and are carrying the look, further saying that they collaborated with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

As per the report, the colonel further defended the actions of the officials who neutralized the four robbers resisting arrest, saying it was necessary due to suspicion that they are possibly members of the infamous Ozamis Robbery Group.
