Selfish Wuhan Woman Brags How She 'Cheated' Coronavirus Checks in Paris to dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant

A Chinese woman has sparked online ire for boasting that she evaded coronavirus health checks, despite having a fever, to fly to France to dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

The Chinese embassy in Paris said it had tracked down the woman from Wuhan, who it called Mrs Yan, and who boasted that she took tablets to pass airport health checks.

On social media, she said she had been suffering from a fever but managed to mask her symptoms with medicine and travel to Lyon, southeastern France, for a slap-up gastronomic meal.

Recounting her journey on WeChat, she wrote: "Finally I can have a good meal, I feel like I've been starving for two days. When you are in a gourmet city of course you have to eat Michelin [food].”

She added: "Just before I left, I had a low fever and cough. I was scared to death and rushed to eat [fever-reducing] medicine. I kept on checking my temperature. Luckily I managed to get it down and my exit was smooth."

She also posted pictures of her meal.

“I did it, finally I get to eat good food here. Feels like I’ve been starving for two days. This city is full of good food, of course I must eat Michelin-starred cuisine. Before I left home (Wuhan) I had a fever and cough so I was afraid that I couldn’t get on the flight. I quickly ate medicine and kept taking my temperature until I managed to make it past immigration,” she wrote.

Her photos showed her enjoying afternoon tea and snacks at a Parisian coffee shop EXKi Chaussée d’Antin. She also wrote, “Bonjour, Paris! As someone from Wuhan, I did not have any special screening or tested my temperature individually.”

It seems that she is very happy that she has successfully entered France even though she was not feeling well. Erm, hello, what about the Wuhan virus?

Her post swiftly went viral and she was widely criticised by other social media users as “selfish”, “irresponsible” and posing a health threat.

One Chinese Twitter user wrote: "We Chinese are so angry abt the girl. This(virus)is not what we want to bring to other nations. My family remained in Wuhan, didn’t escape. I’m so worried abt them but I think what they did was right. Don’t bring this to other nations and other ppl."

Chinese netizens were shocked at her selfishness as she could’ve been infected with the Wuhan virus and might not know as she did not go and get tested. They scolded her, saying that the disease might have gotten into her brain and also said that if she was really diagnosed with the Wuhan virus then she had created a pandemic.

After Yan’s selfishness was exposed, the Chinese embassy in France said that they have contacted the woman, Sinchew reported. They received many reports and complaints from other netizens, so they decided to take action. On the evening of Jan 22nd, the embassy said they contacted Yan and ordered her to go to the nearest French hospital for a check-up.
