Kobe Bryant has been an inspiration to fans all over the world, especially in the Philippines.

To say that Filipino people loves basketball is a complete understatement. For most Filipinos, basketball isn’t just a game, but a way of life.

That’s why millions of fans from the Philippines were heartbroken and deveasted to learn about the death of the basketball legend, Kobe Bryant.


Following his death, an old video of him dancing to the “Tinikling”, a traditional Filipino dance went viral. This video showed how much he loved his Filipino fans and the culture.


During his promotional tour of a shoe brand he endorsed in 1998, Kobe visited the Philippines for the first time. He was still only 19 years old back then.


He sported the “Barong Tagalog” a traditional Filipino clothing for men while attending a dinner party in Manila.

There, he was invited to dance the Tinkling. However, he had never heard or seen the dance before, but that didn’t stop him from learning.

In the video posted by CzarJulius, he was taught how to dance on the spot and quickly got his footing. Even with the beat of the song getting faster, Kobe could still keep up with his partner.

You could see him smile as he started getting the hang of things. He had excellent footwork that extended even outside the court!


With his parting, Filipino fans may be saddened, but his legacy in the hearts and minds of millions would continue to live on.
