A construction worker, who was accused of stealing two female underwear, was beaten to death in this city on Tuesday night.
Police Corporal Joseph Elic of the Tagbilaran City Police Station identified the fatality as Jessie Chan Romorosa, 39, and a resident of Barangay Tupas in Antequera town.
Elic said Romosora was invited by a friend to attend the vesper day of a fiesta in Barangay Dampas on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, at the house of Cabigon’s friend identified as Dioscoro Daño in Sitio Candait.
“They had a drinking session. But at past 6 p.m., when Daño took a rest, a commotion transpired,” said Elic.
Daño’s son, Jestoni, 28, reportedly mauled Romorosa who allegedly took some panties from the hanged laundries in the house.
The older Daño tried to stop his son from beating the victim and requested the help of some village watchmen.
The younger Daño hurriedly left the house after mauling Romarosa, Elic said.
Personnel of the Tagbilaran City emergency response unit were deployed to the scene supposedly to take Romorosa to a hospital but he died on the spot.
The victim, who was hit by a hard object, sustained severe injuries on the back of his head and right eyebrow.
Police said two panties were found hidden inside the brief of the victim.
A hot pursuit operation is being conducted to arrest the suspect,” said Elic. /lzb
