Drunk Man who Stabbed Nephew 11-times Dies after Grabbing Cop’s Gun

A man who reportedly stabbed to death his four-year-old nephew was shot to death after he allegedly grabbed the firearm of a responding policeman Monday night in Manila.

Police said Edmundo Perucho, 51, was gunned down by elements of Manila Police District (MPD) Moriones Station (PS-2) when he allegedly snatched the gun of the police officer at around 8:30 p.m. on July 29.

A closed circuit television footage showed the victim, identified as Lanz Genesis dela Cruz, playing near their house along Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila at around 1:00 p.m. After playing, he entered the suspect’s house.

Police said a witness saw Perucho holding a kitchen knife while shouting: “Patayin niyo na ako. Pumatay ako ng bata, (Kill me now. I killed a kid),” at around 1:40 p.m. on Monday.

Another witness said upon hearing Perucho, he immediately went inside the suspect’s house and found the lifeless boy bathing in his own blood, police added.

The boy was rushed to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival after sustaining 11 stab wounds in the different parts of his body.

Prior to the incident, police said the suspect had a drinking session with the victim’s brother. Perucho was accusing his wife of cheating and his wife’s family of tolerating her alleged infidelity.
