Cayetano reminds Robredo: 82% of Pinoys approved Duterte’s Drug War

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano reminded Vice President Leni Robredo to be more careful with her comments over the controversial drug war of the Duterte administration.

Cayetano’s remarks came during his 49th birthday on Monday after Robredo rescinded her previous statement which calls for an end in the violent war on drugs after she earlier described it as total failure.

“I really hope that iba yung pagkasabi ng ating Bise-Presidente at iba kung ano ibig niya sabihin. Because the way it came out was that para bang dapat walang war on drugs. ‘Di ba?” he said.

He told Robredo that 82 percent of Filipinos approved President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs based on the figures released by the Social Weather Station (SWS) last month.

“Yung sinabi mong failed ang drug war, why does more than 80 percent of our people believe that it’s safer now in the Philippines?” he asked.

The House leader said the Vice President should be more careful with her statements, especially for being the second highest ranking official in the government.

“Ang sinasabi ng Vice President, marami nang napatay, pero marami pa ring pusher. Kasi malaki pera eh at marami sa pusher, gumagamit din,” the Speaker explained.

“Pero ang katotohanan, marami na ring natatakot na pumasok sa droga. So we have to be careful with our words especially no. 2 siya sa Pilipinas,” he added.
